Summer Track & Field

It's that time of year again...Track Season! With the Olympics right around the corner, and USATF trials just finishing up, I figured this was as good a time as any to get in my yearly photo post for the Vertical Adventures Heptathlon / Decathlon meet. The meet was held the last weekend in June at Lenape HS in south jersey. This year marks our THIRD multi-event competition, and also our third year dating, and oh also- we are engaged meow. Let the fun begin!

June rolled around quicker than I think I was ready for, but somehow I still managed to improve my heptathlon score by a smidgen (123 points). I improved from last year in the long jump (new open meet record!) and every so slightly in the 800. I also had a new PR in javelin as well as the 100m hurdles. Not bad!

I'm still a bit salty at my HJ mark. I ended up tying for first with the same height I jumped last year (1.63m). It's still a great mark, but it's a height or two lower than what I've been consistently jumping this season and I really wanted to break the 800 point mark in that event! Ah well, just add it to the list of reasons to come back next summer!

This year had the biggest turn out yet, and it's no wonder - Coach Harrison and his wife continue to go above and beyond for the athletes. This years goody bags included some awesome gear (shout out to whomever picked out those cold tech towels!) and everyone left with a great big smile on there face... and most of us with a great big medal around our necks :) ...Unlike other years, Dennie placed top three and got a medal - pretty awesome stuff for a mid distance runner!

After a nice solid week off from training, it's time to get back to work. I'm coming for that 4,000 point total.
